You would be required to attend site, set up the equipment and carry out the clean as instructed by the Team Leader. The hours can be unsociable and sometimes involve weekends and overnight stays. Site engineer/ Fitter

Expanding Industrial Services Company is looking for an experienced candidate with good experience. Full training will be given. Candidates who are just finishing college after studying a mechanical type course will be considered.    

The role mainly involves the installation, commissioning, planned servicing and trouble shooting of industrial shock pulse generator equipment. Work will be carried out on customer sites around the UK. The remaining work will involve maintenance of other industrial equipment at the Guildford based workshop. On some occasions the candidate may also be required to work on other on-site services which our company provides to our clients. The Engineer will report to the Maintenance Manager and SPG Project Manager.

40 hours per week, Salary £24,000 - £28,500pa plus overtime, based near Guildford, Surrey.

Considerable travel and time spent working away must be taken into consideration when applying for this position, as the role will involve working on sites across the UK.

The candidate should be qualified to the following standard:

  • A formal qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline up to City & Guilds or NVQ level 3 or equivalent experiance.

The candidate should possess the following key skills:

  • Methodical approach to fault finding under pressure.

  • Understanding of limits of fit within components.

  • Removal and refitting of components including seals.

  • Machinery installation and commissioning.

  • Good interpersonal skills, able to work and communicate effectively with clients and contractors at all levels.

  • Be able to work using own initiative without supervision.

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety.

  • Conversant with Method statements and risk assessments.

  • Computer literate with basic IT skills in MS Word and MS Excel.

  • Must have own transport (base office location is not easily accessible by public transport).

  • Hold a current Full EU driving license, ideally clean. Experience driving vans would be an advantageous.

  • Be proficient at completing site documentation and following company procedures.

The following attributes would be advantageous for the candidate but not essential:

  • Experience working in power stations and/or with industrial boilers.

  • Hold CSCS or CCNSG safety passport.

  • Electrical knowledge. Incl. PLC's, relays, solenoids.

  • Knowledge of safety implications associated with high pressure gases would be desirable. Especially working with methane and oxygen.
